Rangers welcomed away fans back to the Old Firm with a decisive victory over Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday afternoon.
Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande, and Hamza Igamane scored to secure a 3-2 victory for Barry Ferguson, who is vying for the permanent position at Ibrox.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though, as Vaclav Cerny squandered an opportunity to make things easier, and he might now face retrospective action from the Scottish FA.
Cerny at Rangers might face a ban from the Scottish Football Association
Keith Hackett has claimed that Cerny might face a ban from the authorities after video surfaced of him showering Celtic fans with water following the winning goal.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the ex-FIFA official stated that the SFA will need more proof to prove it was a planned action first.
“That is a stupid thing to do and certainly the authorities will look into that,” Hackett assured me.
“This is really no different than throwing something at a spectator.
“His act should result in a ban if the authorities have sufficient evidence to prove his actions were deliberate and not accidental.”
Ferguson flies at Ibrox
Ferguson will be pleased with what he has seen in the previous week, as requests have been made for him to start in his permanent post at Rangers as soon as Monday.
After draining the tank to defeat Fenerbahce in the Europa League after extra time and penalties, a nearly identical Rangers team went into Parkhead and defeated Celtic.
As long as Cerny is not penalized, Ferguson will enjoy rewatching the tape.
The Czech international has the opportunity to wait for a decision now, but he might return to Ibrox with a seat on the sidelines waiting for him before the season ends.
Cerny has been phenomenal on loan from Wolfsburg, and with the expectation that he will leave, the approaching takeover could result in a major push to keep him in Govan.
After a similar heartbreak with Abdallah Sima last season, who has since been in the Champions League, Cerny must be signed if there is any desire.
