The Met Office has issued weather warnings ahead of Everton and Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures this weekend.
The Blues and the Reds return to top-flight action for the first time in the New Year as they aim to secure wins in their respective fixtures.
Everton will travel to face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon as Sean Dyche and Co. look to claim a victory against the Cherries at the Vitality Stadium. The Blues go into the fixture on the back of a defeat to Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park last weekend in their last final match of 2024.
Liverpool have to wait until Sunday afternoon before they return to Premier League action when they host Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Reds are have a six-point lead over second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand going into the clash against their bitter rivals.
Ahead of the weekend’s games, the Met Office has provided warnings for the adverse weather that is predicted to hit the UK. For Liverpool’s clash against Man United, an amber warning for snow and ice has been issued.
The warning starts at 6pm on Saturday night and will last until 12pm on Sunday afternoon across large parts of the UK, including the North West, where the Reds will host Man United at Anfield. For Everton’s clash against Bournemouth, there is currently no warning in place on the south coast, but the Met Office has still issued advice for the general public.
“Snow will become persistent and locally heavy as it pushes south to north across the warning area,” the Met Office said. “As well as snow, a period of freezing rain is also likely bringing some hazardous travel conditions, before milder air follows across all areas by Sunday morning.
