Evangelos Marinakis is seen responding violently to the 77th minute moment in the Nottingham Forest tie

Evangelos Marinakis watched from inside the City Ground today as Wolves held Nottingham Forest to a 2-2 draw.

A error by Matz Sels allowed Matheus Cunha to nudge in his second goal of the game, cancelling out Danilo’s score, which appeared to have placed Nottingham Forest up for a crucial 2-1 victory.

Evangelos Marinakis became enraged in the stands at a non-goal moment.

Evangelos Marinakis is shown responding violently to the 77th minute incident.

The 56-year-old was furious with Craig Pawson today, as reported by Paul Taylor of The Athletic.

Marinakis could be seen losing it after Morgan Gibbs-White was not only denied a free kick against Wolves, but also received a yellow card in the 77th minute for flinging the ball away in disgust.

Taylor wrote: “Referee Craig Pawson issues a yellow card to MGW for bouncing the ball away in annoyance. He felt he’d been fouled, but a foul was called against him. Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of the NFFC, was also up from his seat.”

While that incident reflected negatively on Pawson, no one can blame the 45-year-old for today’s outcome.

Nottingham Forest’s loss of two points today was caused by a mixture of shoddy defending and poor attacking decisions.

Nottingham Forest must become more intelligent.

In a tense relegation battle like this, you can’t get dumb bookings for giving the ball away like Gibbs-White did, nor can you defend as lazily as Nottingham Forest did today; Nuno’s club must have a more intelligent side.

As soon as Danilo put the Reds ahead 2-1, we should have seen the black arts in action.

Nuno needs to educate his team how to finish games, run down the time, and frustrate opponents; instead, Nottingham Forest just continued to play openly as they had while the scores were level, allowing Wolves to score a simple equaliser.

That is more acceptable during the first part of the season, but at this point, it might mean the difference between relegation and safety.
