Finland international Glen Kamara is getting interest from Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais.
Leeds United’s loyalty to Glen Kamara may be questioned during the summer transfer window, with reports linking Stade Rennais with a bid for the midfielder. It is no secret that the Ligue 1 club wanted to sign Kamara last year before he chose to join Daniel Farke’s side in a £5 million transfer from Glasgow Rangers.
Kamara went on to establish himself as a major figure in the midfield engine room, appearing 42 times in his debut year at Elland Road as the Whites failed to regain promotion to the Premier League. His connection with Ilia Gruev in the centre created an ideal platform for United’s dynamic forward line to express themselves in the final third.
United offloaded numerous marginal players in the early part of the summer transfer window to help balance the budget following their promotion near-miss, but Farke is believed to want to keep Kamara for the 2024/25 season. Kamara’s experience might be a huge help to the Whites cause.
Rennes could increase their interest in Kamara if Enzo Le Fee joins the club. The Frenchman is closing in on a £19.4 million transfer to Italian club Roma. Rennes would have a significant midfield void if Le Fee left.
Farke, who sold Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur for £40 million, will be hesitant to lose another midfielder with less than a month till the big game. United’s recruitment squad is aggressively seeking reinforcements for a number of crucial positions ahead of their Championship opener against Portsmouth.
