According to Fanatik, Fenerbahce’s management has taken swift action to keep Michy Batshuayi at the club after Leeds United made an offer to sign him.
According to the Turkish news outlet’s website (2 April), the Istanbul club wants to keep the Belgium striker beyond this season and has signed a new contract after his 21 goals this season.
Leeds want to take him on a free transfer, but Fenerbahce has the option to prolong his stay by another year and is now ready to sit down and negotiate a new contract for the 30-year-old former Premier League winner.
Batshuayi is a solid signing for Leeds United.
Leeds have done an excellent job of distributing goals among the squad this season, with Crysencio Summerville leading the way and Daniel James and Joel Piroe also scoring double digits in all competitions.
However, while this works well in the Championship, the team’s lack of a natural goalscorer in the Premier League may have cost them their place in the top tier last season.
Batshuayi has always been able to score goals as a regular in the club, and his 21 goals this season in Turkey have put them in contention for another league championship.
