Ethan Ampadu leave update surfaces at Leeds after playoff final defeat: report

According to the Daily Mail, Ethan Ampadu’s outstanding season at Leeds United is sure to spark interest in his services now that the Whites have lost the playoff final.

According to a report published on May 27, Leeds owes £189.7 million in transfer installments this summer.

Following the Whites’ 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Wembley Stadium on May 26, the club must now sell players in order to keep inside expenditure limits.

How devastating would losing Ethan Ampadu be for Leeds United?

Ampadu is one of Leeds’ most essential players, and despite the club’s desire to sell, he should be considered as a cornerstone for a promotion-winning season.

Ampadu played the most minutes for Leeds in all competitions in 2023/24, clocking up at 4,860.

The 23-year-old is unquestionably head coach Daniel Farke’s most trusted player, and that trust is well-deserved.

After establishing himself as a key cog in the German tactician’s machine as a holding midfielder, Ampadu’s versatility was tested when he was dropped into the centre of defence to fill the gap left by Pascal Struijk’s season-ending injury, where he performed admirably and frequently wore the captain’s armband.

If Leeds can hold onto Ampadu for another year, they should.
