EPL: Nuno Espirito Santo delivers an update on Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury following West Ham’s win

Taiwo Awoniyi scored 10 goals in his debut season in England’s top flight, helping Nottingham Forest narrowly avoid relegation under Steve Cooper.

Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Nottingham Forest, has provided an update on Super Eagles attacker Taiwo Awoniyi, who suffered an injury in the 2-0 win over West Ham.
Awoniyi, 26, has been in good form with the Reds this season, contributing eight goals in fourteen league appearances.

The former Union Berlin forward recently recovered from a groin injury that had kept him out of the AFCON 2023 competition in Ivory Coast.

Nuno’s men welcomed West Ham, who were in poor form, at home yesterday, and Awoniyi struck shortly before halftime to put his team up, with Callum Hudson Odoi adding the game’s second goal.
The Nigerian striker was substituted a few minutes after the hour mark due to what appeared to be another injury, and his coach stated that he has been dealing with the issue for some time, implying another groin lesion.

“We need to assess him and see how he is. We all know he’s been suffering for a while and hasn’t played much. We pushed him, and he accomplished more than he should have. “We hope it’s nothing serious,” the former Wolves boss remarked in words obtained by Derby Unifoot.

Nottingham Forest are presently 15th in the Premier League table, six points clear of the relegation places.
