Manchester United has negotiated an enticing loan deal for one of their young players.
Manchester United have revealed that promising striker Ethan Wheatley will join League Two leaders Walsall until the end of the season.
Wheatley was one of four Red Devils players earmarked for a loan move this month as United seeks to provide experience for their academy players. Wheatley joins Walsall at an exciting time for the club, with the Midlands team currently leading League Two by 12 points with a game in hand.
A club announcement read: “Young Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley has joined League Two leaders Walsall on loan for the rest of the 2024/25 season.” Ethan became United’s 250th Academy graduate after making his senior debut against Sheffield United at home in the Premier League last April. Since then, he has made three more first-team outings and will also be on Tour 2024.
“Wheatley made his Old Trafford debut following a brilliant few months with the club’s Under-18s, who won three trophies in three weeks last spring. Ethan scored twice in the U18 Premier League Cup Final, eight goals in seven league games at that age group, and the first goal in the national league final at Stamford Bridge.”
“It is my first loan, so I am very excited to get going,” Wheatley told the Walsall club website. “The club is now at the top of the league, so I am excited to be in a winning environment, and hopefully we can carry on for the remainder of the season and I can help the squad do well.
“I had interest from other places, but they didn’t have as many games left in the season, and a big thing for me is earning game time and trying to play as much as possible in the men’s game, and hopefully I can do that and stamp my mark and impress. Manchester United used to set us up for work experience loans, where we would go to different clubs for a week at a time, so I have had a fair few experiences of being around a first team environment now, so I am looking forward
Newcastle to sell £21m signing
“I think Miggy’s head has been very, very solidly here,” Newcastle manager Eddie Howe remarked last week when asked about Almiron’s future. “He’s been fantastic in training this week. I haven’t had a single moment where I felt, “Oh, I need to address this, speak with him, or have a deeper conversation.”
“I believe we are both aware of the circumstance. Yes, other clubs have expressed interest in him. There is a chance he will depart before the window, but until then, and even if that moment never comes, he is still an important member of the squad. We adore him to bits. He has an incredible enthusiasm and personality that has never wavered. He’s been the ideal professional, so let’s see what happens.”
