Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare for the Brighton and Hove Albion showdown.
Nottingham Forest face a tough few weeks as they fight to keep their Premier League position.
March began with a 1-0 loss at home to Liverpool on Saturday, leaving the Reds unhappy over the circumstances surrounding the winning goal. They will attempt to put that controversial outcome behind them and recover when they go to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
Nuno Espirito Santo, the head coach, could have some of his injured players available by then. Ibrahim Sangare, a midfielder, sat on the bench at the City Ground, while others are close to returning. Below is an update on Forest’s injury situation.
Nicolas Dominguez
Injury: unknown.
What we know: The midfielder had to be helped off the field less than 10 minutes before the game against Liverpool ended. He appeared to have taken a knock and was visibly uncomfortable as he made his way.
What has been said: “I hope he is fine. He stated he was becoming tight. “Hopefully it’s nothing serious,” Nuno remarked later.
Gio Reyna’s injury status is unknown.
What we know: The Borussia Dortmund loanee was not named to the match squad at the weekend. He was ruled out with a minor injury, but he should be ready for the trip to the south coast.
Gonzalo Montiel’s injury status is unknown.
What we know: The Argentine was an unused substitute against Aston Villa after returning from a hamstring injury. However, due to an injury, he was unable to play against Manchester United or Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Nuno Tavares injured his thigh.
What we know: The left-back suffered an injury during the 2-0 win over West Ham United. He is expected to remain out for several weeks.
What has been stated: “Tavares is injured. “He was injured in the West Ham game and will be out for a while,” Nuno remarked following the Villa encounter. Prior to the weekend’s play, the Reds manager stated that the defense had “more problems”.
Willy Boly suffered a muscle injury.
What we know: The defender did not play for Ivory Coast in their Africa Cup of Nations final victory against Nigeria. He returned to Forest with the injury, but is already back in training and could play against the Seagulls.
What has been said: “Boly is in the final days of his recovery,” Nuno stated last week.
Ola Aina suffered a muscle injury.
What we know: The full-back played the entire 90 minutes for Nigeria in last month’s AFCON final despite an injury. He is not anticipated to be fit for the game against Brighton.
What was said: “Ola sustained an injury in the semi-final and played the final with it. “He tried but didn’t really play in the final,” Nuno stated. As with Tavares, the Forest head coach stated last week that Aina had “more problems”.
Chris Wood
Injury: Hamstring.
What we know: The striker was substituted at halftime in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at the end of January due to hamstring soreness. He was supposed to remain out for up to two months, but he is now close to returning. He has returned to training and could be in contention for a spot in the match team this weekend.
What has been said: “Chris Wood is closer,” Nuno stated ahead of the match against Liverpool.
