Dr Rajpal Brar believes Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk may need surgery for his adductor problem.
The injury expert adds that the Dutchman’s setback is frustrating, and the fact that his schedule has been stretched shows that it is more serious than initially thought.
If things don’t improve in the following days, he may need surgery, which would keep him out for several weeks.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said of Struijk:
“Adductor injuries are generally frustrating, and this one sounds no different – based on the original timeline, it sounded like a Grade 1 injury, but it sounds like he struggled to increase intensity.”
“If this continues and things worsen, surgery may be an option, depending on the circumstances.
“Surgery will undoubtedly delay his return to first-team football, and he might be sidelined for weeks.
“It’s all on how things transpire in the coming days.”
Struijk’s comeback to Leeds United is uncertain due to an injury.
He is receiving a particular injection to address his present setback.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined for about two months, and he could be out another month.
His last outing for the Whites was on Boxing Day, a 2-1 loss to Preston.
In his absence, Ethan Ampadu has taken over central defence.
