Dr Rajpal Brar believes Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton may not play again this season due to his recent injury and lack of match fitness.
The injury expert argues that the minutes he’s accumulated are more important than his current setback, which he classifies as a Grade 2 muscle one.
According to Who Scored, the 24-year-old has just played two minutes of senior football since February.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said of Shackleton:
“I believe this was a mild to medium Grade 2 muscular injury.
“Not too serious, but more concerning is his lack of match fitness.
“He did suffer a more serious injury at the beginning of the year and has since played sparingly.
“It’s difficult to see him start again this season given how little he’s played.
“The club also may not want to take any chances.”
Jamie Shackleton has played sparingly for Leeds United.
Daniel Farke and Leeds United have options at right-back and central midfield, therefore it makes no sense for them to bet on Shackleton.
Shackleton has made just seven league starts for the Whites this season, the last of which came in October.
It remains to be seen what the future has for him, as he is not playing as many minutes as a player his age would like.
