According to a recent rumor, Philippe Clement is about to lose one of his young attackers this month after Rangers decided to sell a “blistering” forward for £2 million.

The Gers return to Scottish Premiership play on Wednesday, hosting Aberdeen at Ibrox, knowing that a win will cut the distance to leaders Celtic, although by 13 points. Rangers’ 2025 season has been up and down, putting pressure on Clement, who knows a defeat or draw against Aberdeen may mean the end of his stay at the club.

As the Scottish club looks to strengthen their team this month, there may be a few departures in the remaining transfer window. According to Football Insider, Rangers could move forward Cyriel Dessers this month. The forward, who is a huge earner at the club, has been in and out of the squad in recent weeks, and with interest from Italian side Cagliari, the Gers may “sacrifice” Dessers.

Vaclav Cerny is another Rangers player receiving interest, with West Ham United leading the battle to sign him after his loan in Scotland finishes and he returns to Wolfsburg. The Hammers are not the only team interested in signing the Czech international; Villarreal is also interested in the midfielder, making Rangers’ prospects of securing a deal after this loan more difficult.

Rangers accept a £2 million transfer offer for the “blistering” attacker.

Dessers is not the only player who may depart this month. According to Football Insider, Rangers have agreed to loan Rabbi Matondo to an undisclosed European team with a £2 million buy option.

Matondo, who Kris Boyd described as having “blistering” pace, has been at Ibrox since July 2022, when he signed from German club FC Schalke 04. The 24-year-old came through Cardiff City’s system before being signed by Manchester City at a young age. However, the move did not work out, and he eventually joined the German club.

Matondo has struggled to make an impact at Rangers, slipping in and out of the team over his three seasons, and the Gers are now willing to let him go. According to Football Insider, Rangers have agreed to let him go on loan to an unidentified European team, but Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday have also expressed interest.

Rangers have declared the winger available for transfer, and he is expected to leave on loan, with the club holding a £2 million option to make the move permanent. Matondo has played just eight games in all competitions this season, as he has slid down the pecking order under Clement, starting only three, and his last league outing was a 1-1 draw against Dundee.
