David Prutton believes Leeds United cannot afford to take Hull City lightly in the Championship on Saturday.
The Sky Sports commentator feels Ruben Selles’ presence has boosted the Tigers ahead of their match against the Whites on January 4.
If Daniel Farke’s club have any promotion prospects, he says they should gain three points at the MKM Stadium with a 2-1 victory.
Prutton told the Yorkshire Evening Post (4 January): “It’s a game that Leeds can’t take lightly, with Hull showing more fight in recent weeks, so it’s an exciting one, I believe, to assess where both teams are at.
“Obviously, there is a connection with my hometown and a team that I genuinely enjoyed playing for, so it’s always a good game to keep an eye on.
“But if Leeds have any aspirations of being in at least the top two, then they ‘should’ come through with full points, and I’d say Leeds to win 2-1.”
Leeds United need an emphatic win over Hull City.
The Peacocks are three points ahead of Burnley at the top of the table following their 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Day.
Despite the squad’s fitness difficulties, Farke has kept the West Yorkshire team in the automatic promotion places.
Ethan Ampadu has finally returned to duty, boosting the Whites’ promotion aspirations in the second half of the season.
Leeds United will be expected to beat Hull and maintain their lead in the Championship table.
Although the Tigers have won only two of their last 17 league games, Selles has brought some stability to the MKM Stadium.
The West Yorkshire club has some reasonably easy games coming up before facing Burnley on January 27.
While the Whites are leading, they must maintain their momentum and qualify for the Premier League.
Farke came close to winning the title the previous season, but lost to Southampton in the play-off final.
