David Prutton predicts Leeds United’s title race ahead of the Millwall clash

Leeds United might overtake Leicester City in the Championship title chase if they win against Millwall this weekend.

Leeds United will seek to take advantage of Leicester City’s FA Cup run.

Daniel Farke’s side has been on a stunning run of success, winning 11 of their past 12 league games and closing the distance on league leaders Leicester. Enzo Maresca’s Leicester side’s decline in form, with only one win in five games, has allowed Leeds to close the gap on top spot to three points.

However, Leicester will turn their attention away from the Championship championship fight as they prepare to face Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday. This means Leeds may jump the Foxes on goal differential with a convincing win over Millwall, and commentator David Prutton has predicted a 2-1 Leeds victory before the end of the weekend.

“Leeds United can go top of the Championship table here, which is incredible when you consider how much they’ve closed the gap on Leicester – who are in FA Cup action this weekend,” Prutton told Sky Sports Championship Predictions. “A win by two or more goals advances them to the summit.

“But they’re up against a Millwall side that’s resurgent under Neil Harris, having picked up 10 points out of 12. This is always a competitive match, and I believe it will be close. “But Leeds should have enough.”

A 2-1 win for the Whites would keep Farke’s side second in the table, despite being level on goal difference and scoring four less goals than Leicester. Meanwhile, Ipswich Town maintained their promotion aspirations with a convincing win against relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
