Leeds United travel to Swansea City this evening hoping to win their eighth consecutive Championship game.
The Whites had good memories of their last trip to Swansea, particularly Pablo Hernandez’s famous goal in July 2020, which will live on forever.
Again, Swansea are a team that Leeds must defeat if they are to retain their automatic promotion bid, even if the nerves aren’t as high this time.
David Prutton’s prediction for Swansea vs Leeds
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has offered his prediction for this evening’s encounter at the Swansea.com Stadium, following Luke Williams’ first win in command of the South Wales club at the weekend, a stunning 1-0 victory over playoff rivals Hull City.
Despite their impressive performance in Humberside, Prutton believes Leeds will have too much with a 1-2 away win.
“On Saturday, Swansea came out of nowhere to beat Hull City! They were completely off of form, but that only goes to show how unpredictable this league can be.
“Can they duplicate their performance against Leeds? It’s a tall order, given how far Daniel Farke’s club is now leading. It could be close in South Wales, but I can’t back United right now.”
Prutton Predictions for Leeds’ Promotion Rivals
Leeds are hoping that a win tonight coincides with points dropped by Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town.
Prutton, on the other hand, believes that only the Tractor Boys will win their away game against Millwall, tying 1-1.
Leicester can make up for their draw at Hillsborough with a 2-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday, while Southampton, like Leeds, are expected to win 1-2 away at Bristol City.
These results would keep Leeds in third place, one point behind Southampton, but five points ahead of Ipswich – the Saints’ game in hand over Leeds is next Tuesday at home against Hull City.
Another win is required for Leeds.
Following a six-game winning streak, it appears greedy for us Leeds fans to still expect a win every week, but that is simply the case in this promotion battle.
While Southampton maintains their impressive unbeaten streak, we simply need to stay up for the time being.
That run will come to an end soon, with tougher games ahead, and if we maintain our current form, second place might be within reach.
