Simon Jordan has urged David Moyes to take over as Leeds United manager, but confesses he does not want Daniel Farke fired.
Following Leeds’ poor start to the season, particularly their 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup, the Whites’ management has faced criticism from certain fans.
Leeds were booed by the Elland Road crowd after the final whistle, but talkSPORT host Jordan believes the German should be allowed more than two games before his job is brought into question.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (15 August, 10:15), he said: “We’re one game into the season. We can’t suddenly stop talking about Ryan Lowe leaving Preston after one game and start bragging about Leeds fans being upset with Farke after only one or two games.
“This is a massive job. It’s something I could imagine David Moyes doing. He doesn’t need to rush back in because his currency is reasonably strong, and there are only so many opportunities for him to break into the Premier League.
“But a club like Leeds, which is oriented in terms of scale and size to be in the Premier League, I would imagine that if the conditions are perfect and Daniel Farke does not run his course, which I hope he does, then someone like Moyes would be a good fit for Leeds.
“Whether they like his style of play is another matter, but for David, you’ve got this massive football club that could maybe match the size of a football club he could see himself leading.
“That would be a reasonable shout.”
Will Leeds United fire Daniel Farke and hire David Moyes?
As Jordan notes, it would be extremely naïve and short-sighted for Leeds United to fire Farke after only two games of the new season, particularly when one of those games was in the League Cup.
Yes, the first two games of the season have left much to be desired, but the German has been managing with one hand behind his back after losing two of his greatest players from last year, Crysencio Summerville and Archie Grey.
With Georginio Rutter’s upcoming exit and a dearth of recruits, it’s hardly surprising that the Whites are starting the season slower than most commentators and fans expected.
If the terrible run persists and those in charge of the football club determine that a change of management is required, Moyes, who left West Ham and the Premier League, could be a nice fit.
But that decision cannot be taken at this point in the season. Farke merely needs time to launch the new campaign over the following two weeks.
