Dave King San Francisco 49ers domino will fall as the Rangers respond to takeover “speculation” with a 19-word statement

The majority of the credit for saving Rangers Football Club from Mike Ashley and the Easdales goes to Dave King.

Ten years later, the legendary former chairman of the Rangers appears to be the driving force behind the San Francisco 49ers’ massive US takeover.

To put it bluntly, the South African businessman hasn’t always agreed with the Rangers board lately, but he still owns the most shares in the Ibrox club.

However, as an American revolution begins at Ibrox, Dave King is slated to be the first domino to fall as Paraag Marathe’s 49ers pursue a 50% share in Rangers.

Dave King will be sold to the 49ers.

Dave King is getting ready to sell the 49ers Investments group his 12.98% stake in Rangers, according to the Rangers Review.

With the transaction anticipated to be finalized between April and June, the newspaper thinks the former chairman of Ibrox might take the role in the upcoming weeks.

In recent months, Dave King has publicly criticized the performance of the club under Douglas Park’s leadership and spoken out against “investor fatigue” at Ibrox.

King, who persuaded Steven Gerrard to join Rangers, resigned as chairman in March 2020, but Glasgow has seen other changes since.

If Dave King does sell up, it will herald the end of an era at Rangers and symbolically, will be the most high profile move towards San Francisco 49ers ownership.

King is one of seven main owners at Rangers, with the US group also needing to deal with Douglas Park (11.54%), George Taylor (10.22%), Stuart Gibson (9%), John Bennett (7%), John Halsted (6.69%) and Julian Wolhardt (6%).

Rangers react to “speculation” of a takeover

The 49ers Investment group’s alleged involvement in an impending takeover at Ibrox has been addressed by Rangers.

Due to the ongoing buyout, the club has declined to comment on any possible conversations and has refused to be drawn into the “speculation.”

The Scotsman cited Rangers’ succinct 19-word statement, which read:

Commenting on rumors is against our policy. If such conversations have place, they would be kept private.
