Liverpool fans know Jurgen Klopp will leave at the end of the season, but will Mohamed Salah follow suit?
The 31-year-old’s current contract expires in 2025, therefore he must make a decision about his future this summer: sign a new agreement or go.
Given Saudi Arabia’s presence in the background, it casts a pall over Liverpool and the possibility of their star player leaving.
Despite a drop in form in recent months, Mohamed Salah has scored 18 Premier League goals and provided ten assists.
That just shows how crucial he is to the club’s cause, so you’d have to be brave to let him go, unless there’s a grand plan.
The issue for Liverpool fans is that their owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are not exactly big spenders.
But if they need a big player, such as Virgil van Dijk or Alisson Becker, they will be eager to bring him in.
According to Darren Bent, if Liverpool can sell Salah to the Saudi Pro League for a suitable fee, they might utilize that money to entice Kylian Mbappe to Merseyside.
Liverpool has previously expressed interest in the PSG speedster, but it appears that he will join Real Madrid this summer.
Despite some doubts about Mbappe, Bent made it clear after PSG were eliminated from the Champions League semi-finals that the 25-year-old is still ‘the best on the planet’.
Kylian Mbappe replaces Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
“I still think he is the best player on the planet,” said Bent. “I understand that his record in the Champions League knockout stages is not terrific. The World Cup final, however, is the world’s largest game. The entire world is watching. He scored in both finals, including a hat trick. I still think Mbappe is fantastic.
If Mbappe had two years left on his contract, how much would he sell for? “£150 million or more. I’d pay that for him.
On going to Liverpool: “That would work,” Bent said. “If Salah left and he returned. Imagine you’re trying to appease Liverpool fans by saying, “Listen, you’re going to lose Salah, but Mbappe is coming.” I almost believe that’s what they need, and he is versatile. He can play through the center. There are a number of versatile attacking players at the club.”
Liverpool should keep Mohamed Salah.
Arne Slot is anticipated to be Liverpool’s next manager, and he’ll need all the aid he can get next season.
Liverpool have demonstrated that when Salah is not blazing and Diogo Jota is unable to stay out of the treatment room, you cannot rely on anyone else to score goals.
That is why Salah must stay because the team would become unstable if Klopp leaves, and they must minimize the damage.
Of course, if the Saudis arrive with a wad of cash, you’ll have no choice but to accept it.
However, with only a year left on his contract, there is little reason for the Saudi Pro League to spend so much money on Salah when they can sign him for free next summer.
