Leeds United need a good finale to the 2023/24 Championship season if they want to achieve automatic promotion.
Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has repeated his belief that Leeds United would be promoted this season. The Whites are at significant risk of missing out on a top-two finish after just winning one of their last five matches.
Since the international break, Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Manchester United have all battled to find their best form. There is a two-point margin between the top three clubs, and fourth-placed Southampton could yet make a significant charge if they beat the Foxes in their next encounter.
It’s all set for a grandstand conclusion. Speaking on talkSPORT this week, ex-England player Murphy stated: “If I had to pick one club to go up, it would be Leeds.” “They are a fantastic club.”
This is not the first time Murphy has shown his adoration for United this season. He offered appreciation on manager Daniel Farke for their outstanding run of results in 2024, which reignited their top-two ambitions.
“The Premier League is better if Leeds are in it, honestly,” he remarked. “As a player or a supporter, coming there should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
“It is crowded every time you go there [Elland Road], they are incredibly passionate about their team, and going there as a player or fan is a really nice experience – better than others that may come up. As a football fan, I want Leeds to get promoted.”
