The Whites manager remained calm as his team battled to a 2-0 victory over QPR on Saturday.
Leeds United have the opportunity to create ‘something spectacular’ this season after demonstrating their mettle in a 2-0 victory over QPR at Elland Road. The Whites responded to their 1-0 defeat to Millwall in the greatest way imaginable on Saturday, with a solid display against the Rs.
Farke had to keep his cool on the sidelines as Leeds struggled to score a second goal despite dominating possession after Jayden Bogle gave them the lead in the first half. However, substitute Joel Piroe sealed the win with an injury-time strike, keeping Leeds on Sunderland’s tail after the Black Cats could only draw with Coventry.
“I try to pretend to be cool and when we miss chance after chance I know how this league is and when it goes up six minutes added time and you say ‘for what?'” Farke stated after the Elland Road victory. “But I couldn’t allow myself to feel frightened or bite my nails, so I tried to keep focused. In general, I am positive because I believe in my players, but I always prepare for the worst.
“But the mindset after a defeat, to always respond with a win, is always important. This is indicative of a winning attitude, and I believe we have the potential to produce something extraordinary.
“Today, I’m just glad to win, and I have to compliment my teammates. The workload is immense, especially with key players out.
“We delivered such a performance, especially after a loss – which wasn’t a poor performance – by winning the next game. Everyone anticipates a home game at Elland Road against a team that isn’t in the best of positions; everyone wants us to win, but it won’t be easy.”
Leeds have a two-week break before facing Swansea City on Sunday, November 24 (3pm).
