According to the Sunday Mirror, Leeds United want to buy Norwich City’s Josh Sargent if they win promotion to the Premier League.
The newspaper reported in its print version on May 19 (page 70) that Daniel Farke is interested in the 24-year-old American forward, who has 16 goals in 26 Championship outings for the Canaries this season.
Bournemouth, Brentford, and Fulham are also reportedly interested in the former Werder Bremen attacker.
Who will Leeds United sign in the summer transfer window?
Leeds’ summer plans are virtually entirely dependent on whether or not they win at Wembley against Southampton next weekend.
The Whites will be small favourites for the game, especially following their thrashing of Norwich at Elland Road on Thursday, and if they do win, Farke will undoubtedly be busy.
Sargent is an intriguing player because he only scored two goals in 26 Premier League outings for Norwich. However, he has progressed much since then, and his goal-scoring spree in the Championship shows he may be ready for a promotion to the top flight.
At the start of the season, Ashley Barnes told the Pink Un newspaper that the American is a “phenomenal talent”.
Farke undoubtedly has contacts at Carrow Road from his time as Norwich manager, so this is a deal that may materialize if the Whites defeat Southampton and reclaim their place in the top flight.
We should expect a number of players to leave Elland Road, particularly in the attacking areas. Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt are two players we could easily see moving on.
