Curtis Jones, the Liverpool midfielder, will definitely have a busy season ahead.
Jones has threatened to break through and become a regular starter for the Reds in the last 18 months or so.
Jones, who had such a promising season in 2022/23, was thwarted by injuries for much of 2023/24. Others have once again surpassed him in the pecking order at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp was a great supporter of the Scouser, but with Arne Slot joining, Jones will have to establish himself all over again against stiff competition in the Liverpool squad.
Fortunately for Curtis, he was one of the first backs to work with Slot in preseason.
Curtis Jones praised Kaide.
Gordon Jones has to improve on last season’s performance. The academy graduate sparkled at times but was too unpredictable in his availability.
Even if Jones isn’t playing, he’s definitely worth having on the roster. His positive attitude is constantly evident at the AXA Training Centre.
The Scouser, at 23, is no longer a youngster. As a player who has progressed from the academy to the first team, he serves as a role model for the current crop of young players.
Given how many Liverpool first-teamers are still on holiday, Curtis has spent the last few weeks with and around many of these young players.
While it is a valuable experience for athletes who are still working their way through the minor teams, these pre-season practices can also reveal which children stand out as exceptional.
Kaide Gordon is already known to be capable of competing with the first team. The 19-year-old has spent the past three years in and around it.
And Gordon appears to have left an impression on Jones. Liverpool’s No.17 took to Instagram stories on Tuesday to share a photo of him and Gordon joking in the gym together.
Jones writes: “My boy!” Let’s hope the two of them can hook up on the pitch together in the future season.
Do not forget about Kaide Gordon
Liverpool has a lot of quality coming through right now. They’re also working hard to recruit some of the top young people from throughout the country to bolster things even more.
Rio Ngumoha is scheduled to join from Chelsea. The forward carries a huge reputation.
However, it should be noted that Gordon was one of these precocious prospects only three years ago.
Liverpool coach Barry Lewtas regarded Gordon, who joined the club as a 16-year-old from Derby County, as a ‘phenomenal’ prospect.
Injuries have severely disturbed his flow over the last two seasons. However, Gordon now appears to be totally fit and ready to make an impact once more. Expect to be wowed by him during the preseason.
