Curtis Davies has sent a message to Kieran Dowell, who joined Birmingham City on loan from Rangers during the winter transfer window.
The former Blues defender commented “Love it Laaaaaaa” on Instagram [28 January] to the latest confirmed transfer news at Ibrox, as the League One club announced Dowell’s signing until the end of the season the previous day.
Birmingham are at the top of the League One table and are favourites to win promotion back to the Championship in the current campaign.
Kieran Dowell transfer to Birmingham City from Rangers sensible
The Englishman has struggled to make an impact in Scotland after joining the Light Blues from Norwich City in the summer of 2023.
While Philippe Clement gave the 27-year-old a several opportunities at the Bears, he failed to make an impact at Ibrox.
The offensive midfielder made 16 appearances for the Glasgow club this season, the majority of which came off the bench.
It makes sense for Dowell to sign on loan with the Blues, and he will most certainly expect to play regularly at St Andrew’s under Chris Davies in the coming months.
Rangers have established a winning formula in recent weeks, which has removed the English star from Clement’s plans.
The Belgian boss has depended more on young players this season, with Clinton Nsiala, Bailey Rice, Findlay Curtis, and Zak Lovelace all gaining minutes in recent matches.
While Dowell’s time at the Gers has not been pleasant, the Ibrox faithful will undoubtedly wish him luck in the future.
The 27-year-old will return to the Light Blues in the summer, but he will evidently be back on the market after his stay in Birmingham finishes.
