Cristian Romero has broken his quiet on social media following the devastating FA Cup defeat, delivering an impassioned message to the fans.
Tottenham lost 1-0 at home to Manchester City on Friday, knocking them out of the FA Cup.
The performance was particularly poor, probably the team’s lowest under manager Ange Postecoglou. Despite this, they held off City until the 88th minute, when Ake scored from close range in a contentious goal.
Replays showed Ruben Dias fouling Vicario in the buildup, but despite a VAR review, the goal was awarded.
Two days after the setback, Romero took to social media to deliver a message, acknowledging the disappointment of the loss while emphasizing the need to bounce back up.
He also expressed gratitude to his supporters for their constant support.
He said:
“A defeat that hurts but forces us to get back up and try again, that is what it is all about.” I am confident that we are finally all headed in the right way. Let’s keep it up, and we appreciate your ongoing support. “We will come back stronger, @SpursOfficial.”
Romero has been one of Ange’s top players this season. He has been reliable at the back, forging a powerful partnership with summer addition Micky van de Ven.
His passion and affection for the team have helped him become a huge fan favourite.
