Coventry star ‘to boost Leeds starting XI’ amid £8 million transfer news

Ben Sheaf of Coventry City would be a good addition to the Leeds United squad, according to Paul Robinson.

According to Leeds United News, Daniel Farke’s side is prepared to make a move for the 26-year-old midfielder, with the Sky Blues eager to listen to offers in order to meet financial requirements.

Leeds’ Championship opponents are expected to listen to offers in excess of £8 million this month, while a number of Premier League clubs are also monitoring the player’s situation.

Robinson told MOT Leeds News: “He’s a good player. Came through the Arsenal academy, is 26 years old, and plays regularly for Coventry. Someone who can take advantage of Coventry’s financial condition may be able to close the transaction.

“He went on loan to Stevenage, Doncaster, and Coventry before signing permanently, and I believe he’s thrived in the last two or three years, as well as playing for England Under-18s.

Will Leeds United sign Coventry City’s Ben Sheaf?

“Would he improve the team? Yes, he would. Would you come in every week? Arguably, he would be included. A player like that would undoubtedly improve the club, but I don’t believe there’s a great urgency.”

With Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell, Ilia Gruev, and Ethan Ampadu all available and returning from injury, Farke has minimal need for a new midfield signing before the winter transfer window closes.

However, the Whites cannot turn down an offer of £8 million for the midfield prodigy, who has made 132 appearances for the Sky Blues since his permanent arrival in 2021.

Farke would most certainly approve of a move for Sheaf, however it is unclear who he would replace in Leeds’ starting lineup, with Tanaka and Rothwell flourishing in recent weeks.
