According to a recent transfer update, Nottingham Forest has reached out to an in-demand new striker about a summer move to the club.

Nuno Espirito Santo came in and kept the Reds in the Premier League last season, but the goal now is for them to push and ensure that more positive days lie ahead in the top level. Amid point deduction woes, it was a forgettable campaign at the City Ground, but fresh arrivals will hopefully help the team progress.

Elliot Anderson, who joined Forest from Newcastle United, expressed his delight with his transfer to the Midlands, saying: “I’m buzzing.” I think it’s a huge club with a long history, and I can’t wait to start. It’s the club and the city. I’ve always been a fan of Nottingham Forest, and I believe it’s an excellent venue for me to demonstrate my abilities and advance my career.”

The hope is that this is only the beginning of Forest’s incoming business, despite the fact that transfer activity will be limited in order to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP), and another name has been put into the mix.

Nottingham Forest wants to recruit a “incredible” free agent.

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Nottingham Forest have made contact with Kelechi Iheanacho about a summer move to the City Ground, but “they face competition” for his signature, notably from Aston Villa and Leicester, who still want him back.

The 27-year-old is now a free agent after his £80,000 per week contract with the Foxes terminated at the end of last month, after seven years at the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho might be a wise summer move for Forest, having already shown himself in the Premier League, scoring 42 goals and providing 25 assists in 196 appearances. He has also performed admirably for Nigeria, scoring 15 goals, and he has received plaudits from Manchester City icon Pep Guardiola.

“Incredible. The quality was there; he was a young player here, and I guess we didn’t have much space at the time because of Gabriel and Sergio. He is a terrific person, and we had a good relationship, so I’m glad things are going well now.”

Having Iheanacho as an attacking option for Forest next season can only be a good thing, and his free transfer might allow the club to match his salaries at Leicester.

Chris Wood was the only Forest player to hit double figures in the league last season, with 14 goals, but Iheanacho scored 12 times for the Foxes in 2020/21, although only playing 16 games, implying he may provide much-needed firepower.
