Conor Chaplin, an Ipswich Town attacker, has been asked who he believes is the better of Leeds United and Leicester City.
The two sides will face off tomorrow at Elland Road in what is perhaps the biggest game of the Championship season thus far, with both now in the top two.
Leicester have been the division’s pacesetters thus far, sitting atop the league for majority of the season, amassing an astounding 78 points from 33 games.
However, Leeds are unquestionably the most in-form team in the division, having won eight consecutive games since the turn of the year, cutting the distance to the Foxes to nine points.
Speaking on talkSPORT ahead of the game tomorrow, Chaplin believes that, despite Leeds’ league double over Ipswich, Leicester are the better team.
Chaplin feels Leicester is better than Leeds.
He said: “It probably sounds foolish since we were thrashed at Elland Road by Leeds and drew twice with Leicester, but I think Leicester in terms of how they make you feel on the pitch.
“Possession makes you feel inferior without the ball, but we’ve lost twice to Leeds and struggled to lay a glove on them in the second game.”
“They’re both really good teams, with really good players but Leicester with their style of play make you feel very inferior.”
Ipswich have only suffered four defeats this season, but half of those have came against Leeds, resulting in eight goals conceded.
Leeds were clearly the better team in the meeting at Elland Road, winning 4-0 just before Christmas, but Chaplin’s point of view on why Leicester are better makes sense.
They have been more consistent this season, and their possession-based style means that rivals will spend the bulk of their games against the Foxes chasing the ball, which can be a challenging experience for a player.
Leeds, on the other hand, are significantly more threatening on the counter-attack, an area where Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna believes the Whites excel. Despite the stylistic differences, next night’s encounter should be equally exciting.
