Darren Bent has mocked one Leeds United fan live on air before of the Whites’ Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Daniel Farke’s team travel to Hillsborough on Friday (8 March) with the goal of leapfrogging second-placed Ipswich Town and regaining automatic promotion to the Championship ahead of their bid for a return to the Premier League.

While Andy Goldstein admitted that this was a “massive game” in the promotion chase, Bent made it obvious that he supported Wednesday as a former Ipswich player.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (8 March, 16:26), he said: “Against Sheffield Wednesday? Do you know what, John? I like you as a person, but come on Sheffield Wednesday.

Goldstein quickly delivered his ruling, stating, “This is a massive game.”

Will Leeds United overcome Sheffield Wednesday and make it back to the Premier League?

This season’s Championship promotion race has been an amazing rollercoaster, with Leeds United, Ipswich, and Leicester City all trading punches and pushing each other week in and week out.

Most experts and supporters felt Farke’s side was destined for the top two after defeating Leicester a few weeks ago, but their stalemate with Huddersfield dampened expectations slightly.

A win at Hillsborough, on the other hand, could be just what the Whites need to put further pressure on their title rivals, especially given that they don’t play until Saturday (9 March). Even if it’s only for 24 hours, they could reclaim the top two spots.

Hopefully, Leeds will win all three points against the Owls, increasing their promotion chances. Anything less than a win on Friday night will be a major setback as they seek an instant return to the Premier League.
