Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Sporting Club de Portugal midfielder Marcus Edwards, with the Portuguese club willing to negotiate a loan transfer.
According to Record, Sporting want to relocate Edwards this month if possible.
According to the tabloid, a recent incident involving the midfielder that culminated in Edwards coming late for a training camp has been the final straw for the team.
The 26-year-old has continually been a problem, a source of ‘indiscipline’, and they want him gone. In fact, they want to move him ‘immediately’.
That urge is so strong that they are willing to approve a loan transaction in January. This is despite the fact that Edwards’ current contract has a €60 million release clause.
The aim is that they can loan him out now and secure a salary at the end of the season. Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos have expressed interest.
Sporting wants €8-10 million for any permanent exodus, but Nottingham Forest and its Greek counterparts believe this is too much. The Portuguese must consider that they own only 65% of the player. The remainder will go to Tottenham.
As a result, they must extract as much as possible in order to make a profit from any transaction. However, Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos, and other suitors are currently unwilling to meet their expectations.
