Joe Rodon, who is on loan from Tottenham, continues to thrive for Leeds United, helping us keep our eighth clean sheet in 11 Championship games on Tuesday night – and Spurs have established his asking price.
Indeed, Rodon has now played 37 games for Leeds this season, with 16 clean sheets. This is despite Rodon’s frequent rotation of centre-back mates.
This season, Pascal Struijk, Liam Cooper, and Ethan Ampadu have all partnered Rodon in the middle of the defence. Ampadu recently stated that playing with Rodon at centre back is “easy”.
Earlier this season, it was claimed that Spurs would seek a fee of £20 million for Rodon if he joined permanently. However, according to new allegations from The Sun, the fee would be significantly lower.
Indeed, they estimate that a cost of between £10 million and £15 million would be sufficient for Leeds to sign the defender after his loan period. It’s unclear whether Leeds can afford to pay that much on Rodon.
Tottenham set asking price for on-loan Leeds player Joe in.
Certainly, promotion to the Premier League would help Daniel Farke retain his key defender at the conclusion of the season. However, if Rodon fails to progress, he will become too expensive for a Championship club.
There are Premier League clubs keeping an eye on his progress and probably ready to pounce, should Leeds fail to go up at the end of the season. Rodon said he’d love to play for us in the Premier League.
What Leeds do have in the bank, is a whole crop of senior players that could be sold this summer to raise funds. Luis Sinisterra has joined Robin Koch in leaving the club permanently, after an initial loan.
