Latest Nottingham Forest news, as this weekend’s Premier League showdown has much at stake for both sides.
Former striker Chris Sutton believes there is nothing between Nottingham Forest and Luton Town ahead of this weekend’s critical Premier League match.
This Saturday, the Reds go to Kenilworth Road for a crucial encounter at the bottom of the standings. Nuno Espirito Santos’ team are presently three points ahead of Luton with ten games remaining in the season.
The outcome of Saturday’s encounter will be a significant step toward survival. With Forest’s unwelcome wait for penalty for violating the league’s profit and sustainability regulations, lots of twists and turns are certain to follow.
Luton missed a chance to get out of the relegation zone on midweek, losing 4-3 against Bournemouth despite leading 3-0. Sutton believes that Luton’s defeat over Forest will be difficult.
“There are two results that I feel have really hurt Luton this season – the first was their home defeat to Sheffield United at the start of February, and the other came when they got beaten by Bournemouth on Wednesday night after being 3-0 up,” he told the BBC.
“A victory would have put them ahead of Nottingham Forest in the table, which would have been huge going into this game, but their defeat makes me believe they really need to win this one now – even though we won’t know the full picture at the bottom of the table until we find out about Forest’s possible points deduction.
“Luton usually score – they have scored in 16 consecutive Premier League games – but they have only kept two clean sheets all season and are currently dealing with defensive injuries.
“I don’t see them keeping Forest out, and I don’t believe Nuno Espirito Santo will be defeated either. A draw is probably not a bad thing for them.”
