Chris Sutton has claimed that Celtic cannot believe they have already won the Scottish Premiership, despite competition from Rangers.

The analyst acknowledged that the title fight is far from finished, despite popular belief, and emphasized that the Celtics cannot afford to take chances this season.

He also congratulated Philippe Clement’s squad on their qualification for the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 this week.

“Contrary to what some fans believe, the league is not over yet,” Sutton wrote in his column on the Daily Record’s website (1 February).

“To their credit, Rangers made it to the Europa League’s last 16 and are capable of finding form in Scotland.

“Celtic cannot take any chances. The Scottish Cup is also up for grabs, and that’s before we get to the Champions League.

Rangers might surprise Celtic in the Scottish Premiership?

Celtic lead Rangers by ten points in the Premiership after 23 games and another game in hand.

Brendan Rodgers’ team can expand their lead at the top of the table to 13 points if they win their game in hand, putting the Gers in a tight situation.

As a result, contrary to Sutton’s belief, Clement’s side is unlikely to shock the Bhoys in the Premiership this season.

That is not to mean that the Light Blues should give up the chase.

In football, things are not done until they are, and the Ibrox club has the opportunity to catch up with Celtic until it is no longer realistically conceivable.

Furthermore, Clement and company are still competing in the Europa League and the Scottish Cup, keeping their chances of collecting silverware alive.
