Another Championship manager has been dismissed at one of Leeds United’s divisional rivals.
Rotherham United, Leeds United’s Championship rivals, have relieved manager Leam Richardson of his duties with three games left in the season.
The Millers’ relegation to League One was confirmed earlier this month, but the two remaining positions are yet to be filled, and the struggle at the other end of the table appears to be coming down to the wire.
Richardson, who is from Leeds, took over in December when Rotherham ousted Matt Taylor, but he managed only two wins in 24 games, resulting to his dismissal as the club seeks a new direction. The Millers are 22 points from safety with three games left. They were defeated 3-0 at Elland on February 10 in a pleasant afternoon for Daniel Farke’s team earlier this year.
A Rotherham statement read: “Rotherham United can confirm that the club has parted ways with first-team Head Coach Leam Richardson, effective immediately. Leam was appointed in December 2023 and will be in charge of 24 matches across all competitions during that tenure. Assistant head coach Rob Kelly has also departed the organization.
“Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Leam and Rob for their work and wish them well in the future. The search for a new first-team manager is already underway, with additional communication to come in due course. Rotherham United will have no additional comment at this time.
