‘Caused all sorts of problems’: Local media hand superb, new Leeds target an 8/10 following Sunday triumph

Leeds United are anticipated to be busy in the final week and a half of the transfer market, and one player who has been linked with a move to Elland Road has received plaudits for his performance on Sunday.

With Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville ready to leave Leeds for Premier League clubs, Daniel Farke has stated that he wants four new signings, including replacements for both players.

A new full-back to cover Junior Firpo or Jayden Bogle is also needed, with Sam Byram now the only other option in the squad as a recognised full-back, though Pascal Struijk and Max Wober can fill in.

The clock is ticking, and despite Gretar Steinsson’s statement that there are preparations in place for new acquisitions for Tony Dorigo, the longer the window remains open, the more difficult it will be to bring new players to Leeds.

Jack Clarke excels for Sunderland on Sunday, earning an 8/10 rating.

Jack Clarke is one player who has been linked with a move to Elland Road. Leeds are thought to be aware of Sunderland star Clarke’s plight, with the Black Cats eager to lock him down to a contract but failing to do so.

After scoring in Sunderland’s opening win over Cardiff, he assisted on Sunday as Sunderland defeated Sheffield Wednesday 4-0. The Sunderland Echo rated Clarke an 8/10.

“Excellent assist for [Eliezer] Mayenda’s second goal, which caused Wednesday all sorts of issues as one would expect. In a player ratings piece, the Echo stated that he was defensively diligent and tracked back well.

Stuart Dallas explains why Leeds may be taking its time.

With Summerville gone, Leeds need a left winger, and Clarke was perhaps the Championship’s second-best left winger behind Summerville last season, scoring 15 goals in 2023-24.

However, Stuart Dallas believes Leeds’ patience in their pursuit of new recruits is due to a desire to see who has been selected in the Premier League’s 25-man teams.

“I believe they will bring guys in. Dallas said after Leeds’ draw with West Brom that he was probably waiting for Premier League clubs to reveal their 25-man squads before looking at who hadn’t been chosen.
