Nottingham Forest have had a flying start to the summer transfer season, with multiple players entering and departing immediately.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad had a tough 2023/24 season, having only recently avoided relegation to the Championship.
Forest, on the other hand, will be aiming to forget about their troubles from last season by strengthening their roster for the upcoming season.
Evangelos Marinakis has been a busy man in recent weeks, as Forest battled PSR once more to get on the right side of the regulations.
And the business at the City Ground has prompted one familiar person to react.
Brennan Johnson responds to Nottingham Forest’s transfer news.
Last season, the Reds incurred a points deduction as a result of their financial problems, which undoubtedly hampered their chances of survival.
Thankfully, Nuno’s team will not face any point deductions this season as a result of the work done in the transfer window last month.
Selling players at the City Ground was needed if Forest were to avoid further point deductions, and they did exactly that.
But one departure in particular has prompted former player Brennan Johnson to offer his concerns.
Moussa Niakhate left Forest this summer, joining French club Lyon.
The Reds are thought to have got an astonishing £27 million for the centre-back, which will have significantly improved their financial situation.
After revealing his joy about joining Lyon on Instagram, Niakhate received a comment from Johnson.
“Good luck, brother,” the Tottenham Hotspur forward replied.
Neco Williams responded to the tweet by simply sending two heart emojis.
Nottingham Forest make great moves in the summer window.
Given that Forest had a points deduction last season, it’s no wonder that they wanted to prevent another in the coming season.
But, to be honest, the way they conducted themselves this summer has been quite outstanding.
Although Forest has made a considerable amount of money from the sales of Niakhate and Orel Mangala, they may not believe they are entering the campaign any weaker.
Forest have even gotten themselves into a position where they can pay roughly £35 million for Newcastle United star Elliott Anderson.
