Brenden Aaronson has provided some insight into his conversation with Daniel Farke regarding returning to Leeds United.

It was announced earlier this week that, following conversations with Farke, Aaronson will be a member of Leeds’ team next season as they seek promotion back to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old was one of eight players of the 2022/23 first team roster who left last summer, leaving supporters with a bad taste in their mouth.

He spent the season on loan at Bundesliga club Union Berlin, where he continued to struggle after leaving Leeds but improved towards the end of the season.

However, Union confirmed last month that he would not return to Germany at the end of his loan, leaving his future uncertain.

Despite having the chance to move on loan for a second season, Aaronson chose not to exercise it.

He also declined the opportunity to return to Union in favor of giving it another shot at Leeds, which should win him some credit in the bank.

Returning to Leeds is certainly something he has considered for several months, having confessed that he felt he let the fans down with his performances.

However, Farke pondered bringing Aaronson back to Elland Road in January, indicating that he is one of the loanees he has been keeping an eye on over the last year.

And now, addressing for the first time since making his decision in an interview with the Athletic, Aaronson has revealed exactly what Farke told him during their meeting.

He stated, “It was an amazing conversation. The role he sees me playing, the games he’s seen of me, how I fit in with the team, and, most importantly, what I can improve on.”

Aaronson plays for USA for the first time since the Leeds decision.

Aaronson is slated to play for the USMNT in the Copa America this summer and was in action last night for the first time since making the decision.

He came on as a second-half substitute as the United States earned an impressive draw against one of the tournament’s favourites, Brazil.

And, given who he was up against, the US media’s assessment of his performance should give him some hope for next season.

He stated, “I almost had a winner in the match but was denied by Alisson from close range.” “Exactly the kind of performance you want coming off the bench.”
