Anthony Edwards Shatters Luka Dončić’s Record, Becomes Youngest to Reach Historic Scoring Milestone
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is making history at just 23 years old. As one of the league’s fastest-rising superstars, Edwards’ scoring prowess continues to evolve, and his latest milestone solidifies his place among the NBA’s elite.
During Minnesota’s commanding 115-95 victory over the Denver Nuggets on March 12, Edwards delivered another stellar performance, dropping 29 points on 10-of-22 shooting, including 5-for-12 from beyond the arc. But beyond his individual brilliance, the night marked a significant achievement in his young career.
With his offensive explosion, Edwards surpassed 2,000 career two-pointers, a feat that, when combined with his 1,000 career three-pointers (a milestone he hit on February 7 against the Houston Rockets), made him the youngest player in NBA history to achieve both marks. He broke the previous record set by Luka Dončić, who accomplished the feat at 24 years old. Edwards reached this milestone a full year earlier, adding another impressive record to his growing legacy.
This season, Edwards has elevated his shooting game, leading the NBA in total three-pointers made (262) with 15 games left in the regular season. His 54.2% effective field goal percentage is also a career-high, demonstrating his evolution from an athletic dunker into a dynamic long-range threat.
Despite missing Karl-Anthony Towns, Edwards has thrived, adapting his game to compensate for the lack of floor spacing. His growth has been instrumental in the Timberwolves’ six-game winning streak, helping them improve to 38-29, tied for sixth place in the highly competitive Western Conference. With just 3.5 games separating them from the No. 4 seed, Minnesota is making a strong push for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
