Breaking News: Leeds United are heavily connected with signing a £51 million striker who has scored 26 goals this season

Leeds United will want to make an immediate impact in the summer transfer window.

Despite being defeated 1-0 by Southampton in the play-off final on Sunday, chairman Paraag Marathe has already spoken out about his objectives for the new season.

Marathe has stated that money will be available for Daniel Farke to spend, and Red Bull’s minority stake is also expected to aid them in the market.

However, with parachute payments decreased in the second season following relegation, Leeds are aware that key players will need to be sold in order to meet the EFL’s PSR criteria.

Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, and Archie Gray are among others who have been associated with an escape, all of whom may make a significant profit.

Leeds are strongly linked with Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez.

With money to spend, Leeds will undoubtedly be ambitious in the summer transfer season as they seek to construct a squad for another promotion drive.

On paper, the Championship appears to be a little weaker this season, so if Leeds can make the correct acquisitions, they should be able to go one better.

Given Patrick Bamford’s injury issues and the possibility of his departing, striker is undoubtedly a position in which they will aim to reinforce before the start of the season.

And, according to Azteca Deportes, Leeds are one of the clubs associated with signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

Gimenez scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Dutch club last season, 23 of which came in the Eredivisie as they fell short in their attempt to reclaim the title.

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Southampton are among the clubs reportedly interested in Gimenez, who is poised to go.

Leeds has no chance in the Gimenez race.

Following Leeds’ failure to get promotion, there is just no prospect of this happening. According to a Turkish ESPN, Goal, and TNT Sports transfer reporter, Feyenoord are going to want £51 million for his services.

Leeds just cannot afford that kind of money, even if they were a Premier League team, let alone in the Championship.

It would not be surprising if Leeds’ name was only offered as a potential destination if they were promoted.

Leeds will not be shopping in the same market as Liverpool or Tottenham this summer, therefore any striker they buy will cost substantially less.
