Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Nottingham Forest, plans to enhance the City Ground’s capacity this summer.
With Forest looking to sell some of their players this summer, there could be a lot of upheaval at the City Ground.
The summer transfer market is now open for business, and Forest is one of the teams looking to raise funds through player sales before June 30.
However, it is not just squad changes that could occur; Nuno Espirito Santo’s situation remains uncertain as the club considers alternative choices.
Former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli is said to have rejected Forest’s approach this summer.
For the time being, one change that Forest fans can expect when they return to the City Ground in August is stadium renovations.
Nottingham Forest intend to increase City Ground capacity.
Since their return to the Premier League, the City Ground’s capacity has been limited to slightly under 30,000.
According to The Athletic, Evangelos Marinakis wants the capacity to approach 30,000 as he aims to bring it in line with his other club, Olympiacos.
Numerous alterations are planned for the City Ground in the coming weeks, including the addition of 180 seats between the Trent End and the Brian Clough Stand.
Marinakis was inspired by Stadium 974, which was built from shipping containers for the Qatar World Cup.
However, these are not the only modifications; the screen next to the Trent End is scheduled to be shifted somewhat to accommodate the repairs.
The question of whether Forest should relocate or simply redevelop their current property remains unresolved.
But, for the time being, Forest will have a stadium where they can finally play Premier League football in front of nearly 30,000 people.
Evangelos Marinakis is also receiving his own box.
Marinakis is also enjoying the little changes made at the City Ground, with the owner erecting himself a suite to view the games from.
The Forest owner is likely to have a suite where he may stand up and move while maintaining the privacy that his current seat does not provide.
Marinakis’ room, located in the Peter Taylor Stand, is slated to become the most lavish of its kind on the grounds.
Work on the suite has not yet begun since there may not be enough space to build it as large as Marinakis’ suite at Olympiacos Stadium.
