Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds look ahead to the Premier League showdown at Anfield.
Liverpool may be dealing with an injury worry ahead of their game against Nottingham Forest.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds will look to build on their strong start to the season when the action resumes after the international break. They are unbeaten in the Premier League after three games, with five points.
Improving their away form is one of Forest’s priorities this season as they look to move up the table. They will face an early test of their talents on the road with a trip to Anfield.
The Reds’ two-week respite will end next Saturday (3pm kickoff) when they face Arne Slot’s side. Liverpool has won all three league games.
However, Slot may be concerned about Alexis Mac Allister’s fitness for the game. The Argentine was compelled to leave while representing his country in the early hours of Friday morning.
The midfielder started the scoring in a 3-0 victory over Chile before being replaced in the 79th minute. He is thought to be suffering from an adductor ailment.
Prior to the contest, Mac Allister was doubtful due to an injury. Argentina manager Lionel Scalon said the player needs to be evaluated after missing training earlier in the week while reporting for duty.
“Alexis didn’t train because he was overloaded, he was in pain,” Scaloni told TyC Sports, as reported by our sister publication Liverpool Echo. “It always happens to us, they come out to do their part.”
Liverpool’s Curtis Jones could be ready next weekend. It was reported earlier this week that the midfielder is on track to win his fitness battle for the September 14 match after suffering an injury in preseason.
However, Harvey Elliott, a Liverpool midfielder, withdrew from the England Under-21 squad. He was supposed to have returned to Anfield for medical tests.
