Leeds could get a great deal this summer.

Leeds United are interested in recruiting a player whose market value has increased by 7,500% in the last several years, according to reports.

    Leeds transfer speculations

Leeds United are preparing for another season in the Championship. The Whites spent much of 2023/24 in and around the automatic promotion spots, but their form at the close of the regular season saw the Yorkshire club drop to third place in the standings, with Ipswich Town taking their place in the Premier League. Daniel Farke’s side advanced to the play-off final, but lost 1-0 to Southampton.

Leeds’ inability to earn promotion back to the Premier League is expected to have an impact on their transfer strategy. On the outgoing front, Wilfried Gnonto is thought to desire to leave Leeds and move to Serie A. Meanwhile, Crysencio Summerville, who has been linked with Liverpool, has sparked intense attention. Finally, midfielder Archie Gray is thought to be of interest to German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

In addition to potentially losing some of their key players, Leeds will be unable to pursue several players they were interested in earlier this year, such as Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha. Instead, it appears that they have focused on lesser names that are less expensive.

Leeds are among the clubs interested in signing Stade Brestois forward Karamoko Dembele. They are also thought to be interested in Stuttgart’s winger Silas Katompa Mvumpa. Furthermore, the Whites are planning a move to recruit FC St. Pauli central defender Eric Smith as a possible replacement for Tottenham star Joe Rodon.

Leeds target player’s value has risen 7,500%.

Another prospective budget signing has been linked with a transfer to Elland Road. The player in question is Natan Girma, who presently plays for Reggiana in Serie B.

Grima joined Reggiana on a free transfer from Sona in July 2023. Despite only spending one season with his current team, the attacking midfielder’s market worth has risen 7,500%, from €10,000 to €750,000. Grima made 26 league appearances in 2023/24, scoring five and assisting three as Reggiana finished 11th.

The 22-year-old is under contract with his present club until 2027, with an option for another year, but sources in Italy suggest a move to England could be on the cards. According to reports, Reggiana does not want to part ways with the midfielder, but they may be forced to if the proper offer comes in.

On this front, offers less than £2.5 million are apparently not considered. However, given his astounding market value increase in just one year, £2.5 million+ remains a serious bargain for any potential interested team. His present trajectory appears to be that of a player on the rise, so that cost may look like a steal in a few years.

Monza are believed to be interested in Grima, but according to the Italian publication, Leeds and Watford have contacted the player’s camp to inquire about his availability.
