Danny Batth scored a late level for Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday, as Leeds United failed to secure all three points at Elland Road.

Leeds had won three in a row heading into the game and were on an amazing run at Elland Road, but both came to an end as John Eustace proved to be a thorn in Daniel Farke’s side once more.

Still, a solid point for Leeds against plainly, their bogey team as things went Leeds’ way on Wednesday. Stoke held Burnley to a point at Turf Moor, while Sheffield United were defeated by Sunderland on Wearside.

Leeds stay three points clear at the top of the Championship table. It could have been five if Pascal Struijk’s penalty had won, but 34-year-old Batth came up with a point.

Danny Batth’s performance at Elland Road highlights Leeds United’s potential to earn promotion from the Championship to the Premier League in their second season. A win over Hull on Saturday will top off a fantastic Christmas period.

After scoring a late goal for Blackburn at Elland Road, experienced defender Batth told Blackburn’s website that Leeds’ home ground is the most difficult place to play in the Championship right now.

“It has been a swift turnaround. With the amount of effort the players put into the game, and coming from the toughest place in the league, we had to be on top of our game to win anything. “The draw was the least we deserved.”

Leeds’ upcoming five games compared to Sheffield United and others

So, the Christmas season is almost over, with Hull the latest in a string of fixtures. Following Saturday’s match, there will be only 20 league games remaining to play, and Leeds are in a strong position.
