Bamford shock, Gray’s future, Gruev’s position, and Leeds United’s obvious transfer message

We asked you which of the current Leeds United squad you would keep and who you would leave, and the results paint a clear picture.

Leeds United fans have delivered strong and surprising messages to Daniel Farke and his team about the future of their squad ahead of a busy summer transfer window.

Leeds Live entrusted you with deciding which of the club’s existing players to keep or sell ahead of what might be a busy trading period, and the results will raise some eyebrows.

The position during the off-season has been worsened by financial responsibilities that require care in order to keep within the Profit and Sustainability Rules. Leeds may be forced to part ways with players who supporters do not want to leave at such a critical point in the club’s history.

This has resulted in a highly divided vote, with only a slim majority of 16 out of 30 players that fans desire to keep at Elland Road for the new season. The remaining 14, including some surprising names, would be able to leave with little disruption. Here’s how the vote went:

    Staying put

Six athletes got more than 90%, revealing who the actual fan favourites are. It’s no surprise that 18-year-old Archie Gray, who has been connected with Premier League interest, leads the charts with a massive 98.5% of fans hope he stays with Leeds.

Ethan Ampadu, Daniel James, Mateo Joseph, Pascal Struijk, and Ilia Gruev, all of whom have been connected with a move away this week, round up the sextuplet that fans have been most vocal about. Georginio Rutter, Charlie Cresswell, and Glen Kamara were the only other three to score higher than 75%.

    Tentative backing

Not everyone was as enthusiastic, but they were supported still because seven more players may yet play a role in the upcoming Championship campaign.

For one, 55.7% of Leeds fans want Crysencio Summerville to stay at the club. The club’s leading goal scorer in the 2023/24 season has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere due to the club’s current financial fair play concerns, albeit his departure would not be totally welcome.

On the other side, after four years in goal, Illan Meslier’s patience may be wearing thin. The 24-year-old conceded only 39 goals in 46 matches last season, but only 66.2 percent of fans believe he will keep his place at Elland Road. The same could be said for Junior Firpo, one of Leeds’ relegation players, who received 55.6 percent support to stay.

    Below half marks

Anyone with a number less than 50% indicates that more respondents chose the’sell’ option in our poll. There are several surprises here, with Patrick Bamford standing out. The Englishman has been a significant member of the squad for six years, and he has eight goals this year to keep the club fighting for promotion for as long as possible.

Unfortunately, it appears that his ailments have caught up with him in the eyes of the supporters, with 57.9% deciding to say farewell this summer.
