According to Adam Pope, Leeds United are not interested in selling Glen Kamara this summer, despite interest from Stade Rennais.

The BBC Sport journalist, writing on his personal X account (3 July), writes that the Ligue 1 club has expressed interest in the Finland international [L’Equipe, 30 June].

However, after selling Archie Gray to Tottenham, the Whites are in a solid financial situation and have no intention of letting the 28-year-old depart Elland Road as things are.

Leeds United’s squad must remain as strong as possible.

The summer transfer season was always going to be difficult after missing out on promotion back to the Premier League, and Archie Gray’s sale to Tottenham just added to that.

However, it has now placed the club in a far stronger financial position, so any exits from this point will be on their terms, forcing other clubs to pay up.

Kamara only signed a year ago and was an important player of Farke’s squad last season, so his prospects of leaving quickly were always small.

However, with the possibility of Crysencio Summerville leaving still high, as well as interest in a slew of other key players, maintaining individuals like Kamara to ensure consistent improvement is critical.

He’s experienced, has proven himself to be ideal for the division’s level, and can also assist bring a young squad along with his top-level expertise. Leeds must find a method to keep him while simultaneously making him happy.
