Keith Wyness, Everton’s former manager, has urged Leeds United to accept a bid of “£25million plus add-ons” for star player Crysencio Summerville.
Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, claimed a “bidding war” for the 22-year-old is unlikely, implying the Whites will need to lower their asking price.
Football Insider reported on Tuesday (23 July) that West Ham are only willing to pay £20 million plus add-ons for Summerville following new Leeds talks.
Meanwhile, Leeds are reportedly asking for more than £35 million for the Championship Player of the Season for 2023-24, who finished the league season with 20 goals and nine assists.
Fulham and Newcastle have also expressed an interest in Summerville, but have yet to confirm their interest.
West Ham might gain a £10 million reduction on Leeds star Summerville, according to Wyness.
Wyness instructed Leeds to meet in the middle with West Ham and “move on” for the rest of the summer window.
He told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast, “As I understand it, the figures we’re talking about are around £25 million.”
“Look, he’s young, but he deserves a shot at West Ham.
“Lopetegui may have other ideas in mind that he considers similar, but I believe Summerville is worth a try.
“He could really make it.
“£25 million plus some add-ons might seal the deal.
“Leeds will hope for a bidding battle, but it does not appear to be happening.
“There’s no doubt he’s a talent, but I don’t see a major bidding battle developing.
“I think they should take the money from West Ham and move on.”
