‘Anything can always happen’: Sky Sports pundit forecasts Leeds’ goal against Blackburn today

David Prutton has provided his predictions for Leeds United’s home game against Blackburn Rovers today.

The Whites will be trying to get their automatic promotion campaign back on track after slumping in recent weeks, picking up only five points out of a possible 12.

Coventry City handed Leeds their first defeat of 2024 last weekend, but Daniel Farke’s team were unable to recover, drawing 0-0 with Sunderland.

Fortunately for Leeds, both Ipswich Town and Leicester City were unable to pick up three points, so it stays extremely close heading into the final four games.

Farke may be tempted to make changes to his starting lineup today in order to give the club some new momentum, and it is fair to assume that nothing less than a win would suffice, with two away games to come.

Prutton currently forecasts the score for Leeds against Blackburn today.

Ben Parker, Prutton’s former Leeds teammate, has already predicted that the Whites will win comfortably 3-0 in the early Championship kick-off today.

Blackburn are coming off a devastating 5-0 defeat at Bristol City on Wednesday, and Leeds will be aiming to capitalise on some possibly poor confidence levels.

Prutton said in his latest weekly EFL piece for Sky Sports that Leeds will return to winning ways against a team that is currently ‘probably the weakest’ in the league, except from Rotherham.

He stated, “It has been another challenging week for Leeds. Even with promotion out of their hands, they believe that winning their final four games will be sufficient.

“That foursome begins against Blackburn, who are currently perhaps the poorest team in the division, except from Rotherham. Bristol City were awful, with only two calendar wins this year. Nobody knows how one of them resulted in a 5-1 victory over Sunderland.

“This should be an easy three-pointer, but nothing is guaranteed in the Championship. Prediction: Leeds 3-1 Blackburn.

Following two consecutive dismal games with the same starting lineup, different players will be vying for a place back in the team.

Gnonto merely needs to come in on the right side to replace the underperforming Dan James, who has looked sharp in both of his games off the bench since returning from injury.

Connor Roberts is also a possible option at right-back, which might result in Archie Gray moving into midfield to replace Glen Kamara.

Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe will be eager to demonstrate their abilities from the start, but Farke is never one for major changes.
