He has made 27 appearances in the Championship this season.
As the 49ers Enterprises prepare for next season, exit routes are being developed for a slew of players who have struggled for minutes at Leeds United.
Leeds prepares for summer exodus.
As Leeds look to return to the top level, several of the players who have struggled in the Championship are ready to leave Elland Road.
It was claimed last week that Ian Poveda is among the Leeds players who would not be handed a new contract at the end of the season. The 24-year-old is presently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and will not return to Elland Road after his spell in South Yorkshire ends.
Sam Greenwood is another Leeds player who is anticipated to leave once the transfer market opens. The forward is with Middlesbrough till the end of the season, and reports claim he will be sold upon his return.
Jack Harrison and Brenden Aaronson are expected to join Greenwood and Poveda on the chopping block, with both looking for permanent exits. They are currently with Everton and Union Berlin, respectively.
With Daniel Farke eager to restructure his roster in preparation for next season, it looks that the next player to be made surplus to needs is a man who was previously expected to be a first-team regular at Elland Road.
Drameh has played his final game for Leeds.
According to Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke, Cody Drameh is expected to leave Elland Road this summer. According to sources, the defender “is not set to receive a Leeds United contract extension and has played his last game for the club”.
O’Rourke, who is now on loan at fellow second-tier club Birmingham City, says the club has the option of making his agreement permanent. However, Leeds would be entitled to a compensation sum due to the Englishman’s age. The 22-year-old joined West Yorkshire following a £1 million deal from Fulham in 2018.
Since arriving at Elland Road, the fullback has struggled to establish a steady role in Leeds’ plans, appearing only 10 times in total. Drameh has spent the majority of his career on loan, with recent seasons seeing the defender flourish for Cardiff City and Luton Town.
While he played a crucial role in the Hatters’ promotion last season, Drameh’s tenure in Cardiff earned him the Blue Birds’ Player of the Season accolade for the 2021/22 season.
Many believed Drameh was ready to join the first squad at Elland Road after his stint in Cardiff. Steve Morrison, the fullback’s manager at the time, concurred with this sentiment, saying of the player’s early days at Cardiff:
“In his home performance against Nottingham Forest, he looked fitter and sharper than he had in the first two games.
“The Barnsley game was terrible. He had never seen anything like it, and he came in with a couple of last-ditch tackles right at the end of the game, which was incredible.
“Tonight? Pff. It’s a good thing they can’t call him back after that; he was fantastic.”
Whether Birmingham or another EFL club signs Drameh this summer, they could gain a player with the potential to be a good full back in the division.
