Crysencio Summerville will sign a five-year contract to leave Leeds United on Saturday, with his move to West Ham already confirmed, according to Florian Plettenberg.
According to a Sky Sports Germany writer via X, on August 3, the Dutchman will sign a contract that will last until 2029.
The “all-in” sum for the Elland Road star is expected to be no more than £25 million, making him the latest player to leave Daniel Farke’s squad during the transfer season, following Archie Gray’s £40 million move to Tottenham [Fabrizio Romano, 2 July].
Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports announced on August 2 that the winger has completed his physical with the Irons.
Leeds United star has completed the West Ham medical.
Summerville’s departure is hardly surprising given that the 22-year-old was expected to be in high demand during the transfer window after being awarded Championship Player of the Season.
His breakout season saw him shine under Farke, scoring 21 goals across all competitions and attracting interest from Chelsea and Liverpool [The Sun, 28 May].
But the fact that he is being sold despite the fact that Gray was the first big-money asset to leave is even more disappointing.
And Whites fans will be disappointed to see him leave at what appears to be a bargain price so soon after talkSPORT claimed on July 30 that they were holding out for £40 million and were prepared to repel the Hammers’ threat.
It looks that any potential late collapse has been avoided during the medical testing stage, so the focus at Elland Road will be on how the money is spent to replace a significant portion of the attacking production from last season.
Glen Kamara has also joined Rennes, and there is the possibility of more important departures [Daily Mail, 1 July], so with time running out before the season begins in a week against Portsmouth, new signings are critical.
