Leeds United’s chief executive, Angus Kinnear, was deep in conversation with Peter Lowy prior of the 3-0 victory over Coventry City on September 28.
Graham Smyth witnessed the conversation at Elland Road, where the millionaire heir serves on the Whites’ board with Paraag Marathe and Kinnear.
Wilfried Gnonto, Jayden Bogle, and Joel Piroe scored to help Leeds move up to fifth place in the Championship.
Smyth, writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post, observed “CEO Angus Kinnear deep in conversation with billionaire heir Pete Lowy in the directors’ box during the warm-up.”
Angus Kinnear and Peter Lowy are in talks with Leeds United.
Lowy became a director at Elland Road in 2021, and now that 49ers Enterprises owns the club, his influence is becoming evident.
With plans now set to extend Elland Road capacity, the surrounding facilities will also need to be updated, which is where Lowy comes in.
The large investor is claimed to be “obsessed” with enhancing the stadium’s transportation infrastructure, which includes a train link [Daily Mail].
The 49ers have already committed £10 million to the plans surrounding Elland Road, and that figure will only rise when construction begins [The Athletic].
Lowy and Kinnear will be working closely together on a regular basis, and it is fantastic to have two personalities as influential and involved as they appear to be.
With another win over Coventry, things are looking up ahead of two big away games against Norwich and Sunderland this week.
