Ange Postecoglou, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has lauded Son Heung-min ahead of Spurs’ FA Cup third-round match against Burnley on Friday.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino believes his skipper is deserving of a spot in the squad of the season so far and has been “probably the most significant contributor” for Spurs.
Due of Son’s involvement in the Asian Cup, Postecoglou will be without his services for several weeks, possibly until mid-February.
The Tottenham and South Korean player will represent his country at the event, which will be held in Qatar from January 12 to February 10.
Tottenham could be without Son for up to five games between now and the Asian Cup final, and Postecoglou knows Son’s absence is a “big loss.”
“Sonny, if you name a team of the year at the moment, he’d be on it, he’s been a hell of a player for us,” Postecoglou told the Spurs media team in a video shared on YouTube.
“This is a significant loss for us.” We’ll have to raise everyone’s levels to compensate for the disappearance of another key contributor, most likely the most significant contributor for us.”
Spurs have struck gold with Son Heung-min.
Son is not only a good captain for Tottenham, but he also scores goals and assists and connects the midfield and attack. And, clearly, he remains as popular as ever in the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room and among the fans.
Tottenham struck gold when they signed Son for just £22 million back in 2015. The £190,000-a-week ace (Spotrac) has already become a Spurs and South Korean legend.
While it’s unfortunate that Tottenham will be without him for several weeks, let’s hope he does well for his country and leads them to triumph in Qatar.
